LINDEN HOUSE | CAPTAIN'S ROOM
The Captain’s Room is located on the left of Linden House as you enter through the front door and is adjacent to the Entrance Hall. It has many purposes which can vary in degrees of entertainment.
In this particular scenario the Captain’s Room was used as a very adult like ‘gentleman’s’ smoking lounge and the setup included a Chesterfield which was hired in from our furniture supplier, Ya Hire. We paired the Chesterfield with our very own ‘Persian’ carpet and then also hire in a Gold Console Table from Ya Hire https://www.yahire.com/.
A Whiskey, Whisky and Bourbon station was then setup with a selection of old vintage books to give the room a sophisticated and elegant appeal. This room then served as a timeout zone where wedding guests could relax and have a catch up with friends they had last seen before the pandemic. When legs were rested, guests then found themselves back in the Ballroom dancing to their hearts content, until they yet again needed to revisit the Captain’s Room where they could shake off shoes and put their feet up.
Linden House has a variety of spaces which can be as flexible as our clients need them to be. The Captain’s Room is a true example of one of those spaces and when it comes to weddings, we have seen it transformed into the most magnificent of rooms, each unique in their own way.
On one occasion a couple chose to hire shuffleboards, which proved to be a great form of entertainment and a fantastic means of winding down after the more serious and traditional wedding breakfast that had taken place earlier on in the day. Shuffleboards were a great activity as they allowed for guests to come together, to form teams and then to either lose fantastically or win magnificently. The company who supplied the Shuffleboards were https://playshufl.com/
On another occasion we turned the Captain’s Room into a nursery as there were quite a few children attending and as such the couple thought it was a good idea to use the services of a babysitter who was able to entertain the children. This meant that all the adults were able to enjoy the wedding as much as the children.
Karaoke has taken place and has been ever so popular. Retro gaming stations has been another really successful choice that one of our couples went with and then another couple chose to turn the Captain’s Room into a Secret Chamber which was fully equipped with everything needed for the most awesome ‘After Party’. Fluorescent glow in the dark bangles, glasses, hair dyes, glitter filled necklaces, finger lights, light up props, light up balloons….the works. To complete an after party room there was an ‘entrance fee’ which was a mandatory ‘please take a shot’ station; just to get everyone in the mood and warmed up for the incredible four hours of dancing that ensued.
The Captain’s Room has also served as a great space for a Cocktail Hour where guests have been presented with personalised cocktails that the Linden House Team have put together. The cocktail hour doesn’t tend to last very long so what follows is either a grazing table with late night nibbles or better yet, a cheese station. A cheese station is always welcomed by wedding guests and is sometimes accompanied by a sweetie station which serves three purposes: the first is that it gives parents another 45 minutes of being able to stay at the wedding because their children are occupied; the second is that it feeds guests who aren’t that keen on cheese but still need something to nibble on and then the third is that it provides guests with the perfect wedding favour. Let’s face it, there is nothing better than eating sour coca cola bottles, love hearts, swizzel lollipops, maltesers, and much more, the following morning for breakfast!
Please let our Events Team know of your vision for the day and never be shy to let us know because we have more than likely set up the Captain’s Room in the past for something quite similar to your suggestion and if not, we would still like to hear about it. We absolutely love the challenge and look forward to putting your thoughts into reality!
