JANUARY 2.0 2022

We have been working hard over the last few months to ensure that Linden House is providing Members with the opportunity to enjoy the spaces in other ways which don’t include a wetsuit or oar. It must be said that we do love a wetsuit and oar but sometimes a nice glass of wine or a Sunday Roast is just the most perfect addition to a day of being on the water.

As such we thought it would be interesting to launch the Linden Social which is a program that will enable members to enjoy events that are non-sailing or rowing related. We have created a newsletter and are gradually building up our subscriber list in order to be able to host events and successfully fill them. We would love for you to subscribe but completely understand that being bombarded with emails may not be everyone’s cup of tea. We have therefore created a new webpage on our website that lists all the events for the upcoming months. You can access it here www.lindenhouse.london/members and then at the bottom of the page you will have an opportunity to subscribe to our newsletter should you so wish.

We are kicking things off on a musical note with Sofar Sounds hosting their second concert of the year at Linden House. Sofar Sounds have been coming to Linden House for over two years and give three unannounced artists an opportunity to perform in undisclosed, unique locations making for music experiences you’d never expect. Sofars are happening in hundreds of local neighborhoods around the world – on rooftops, in art galleries, breweries, and more – in cities like London, New York, San Francisco, and Shanghai. They have over 10 shows per night just in London and they discovered the likes of Andra Day, Leon Bridges, Yebba, Lianne La Havas, Khruangbin, Jamila Woods, Billie Eilish, Tank And The Bangas, Hozier – the list goes on. Definitely a worthwhile way to spend your evening and even better is that Linden House has secured free tickets for members so make sure to grab yours before someone else does.

We are then hosting The Modest Merchant for a wine tasting all about the new wave of Spanish wine. This event will take place on the 10th February in the Commodore’s Room and will include 6 wines and Spanish inspired nibbles.

Afternoon Tea is then launching for the first time on the 26th February and is sure to impress aunties, mums and grannies but not only. Champagne Jelly, Apple Compote Choux Buns, Dark Chocolate Delices and Strawberry Cream Victoria Sponges; need I say more?

When you aren’t eating scrumdiddlyumptious cake you will be splitting your sides at the new Comedy Club to be held at Linden House. The Quip Shed have got a great line up for you and it is sure to be a great evening in the Ballroom on the ground floor.

Quip Shed Comedy was established in November 2021 by Lyle Barke & Jocasta King with the mission to bring audiences the best established and emerging acts on the UK comedy circuit. They have comedians who include Nick Helm, Michael May, Luke Nixon and the very special guest attending Linden House, among other very talented comedians, is Eshaan Akbar.

The comedy club will take place every month so if you miss the one in March don’t worry, there are lots and lots more comedians still to visit Linden House.

The next two events include a comforting Sunday Roast which will only ever be almost as good as your mum’s (it’ll probably be better with the very talented Chef we have in the kitchen but that’s a little secret between you and I) and then we have the launching of our first ever book club where we will be reading The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. A brilliantly British light hearted bit of fun for all!

We hope you will partake in all of the above and should you have any ideas for any future events please let us know. In the meantime, know that we will continue putting lots of events together that will range from rum tastings for the sailors to yoga for the rowers. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
