JANUARY 1.0 2022

Happy New Year to you and your families. We hope you all had a wonderful break with friends and family and if you weren’t so lucky and were having to isolate with the dreaded Omicron variant, we want to remind you that each day is for celebrating! We hope that the new year brings happy times and laughter together with good health for everyone.

For those of you who haven’t been able to come to the Club House over the last few months we wanted to let you know that we miss having you around and while you have been gone, we have been undertaking a wide variety of projects as per usual.

We would like to make sure that we officially introduce Karen to you. Karen is a wonderfully sweet lady who is now the main presence behind the bar and will be serving your food and drink to you as well as having a good old chat with you to find out how your day was.

The Trust also undertook the repainting of the Members Bar and the Commodore’s Room and it must be said that the new colour is going down a treat. The Clubs are, as we speak, making sure that all the artwork is returned to the walls in a way that is sure to highlight the magnificent history and the wondrous achievements of present and past members. Please do poke your heads into the Commodore’s Room as many of you have never wandered into it even though it is right next to the bar. We hope you like what you see.

At the moment we are still looking for a Chef to take over from Eddie although many of you will have seen him wandering around the kitchen and Bar in his Chef whites. He very kindly offered to stick around and help out on quite a few occasions to make sure that our food offering to members and non-members was of the standard that we would expect. We hope to be able to find a replacement for him in the near future and look forward to introducing him/her to you.

We have noticed that a lot more members are booking events with us which is such a pleasure to see. To date we have organized a few birthday parties and this Summer we will have some weddings too! We would like to remind you that Linden House is a fantastic venue with a great food offering; it is sure to impress your guests should you wish to host an event with us.

We have also noticed that quite a few of you are unsure of the times and days that the Club House is open and as such we would like to let you know. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the bar is open from 18.00 and we do serve lovely dinners. We are open until 23.00 and it is quite usual for everyone to come to the Club after work, have a few drinks and some lovely food and have a good old chinwag with other sailors and rowers. On Saturdays and Sundays, we serve breakfast from 09.30 until 12.30. We have some very simple and very tasty dishes like bacon sarnies and fried eggs on toast with lots and lots of beans. We also serve some not so simple dishes which have include things like Frittatas and Corn Beef Hash with Poached Eggs as well as Smoked Salmon on Crushed Avocado and Homemade Sourdough. We then start serving lunch at 13.00 and will serve until 15.00. We are then closed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays however if you wish to come and use the Club for an out of the office work day, please do email me on manager@lindenhouse.london. This is so we know you are coming and can make sure that the building is available for use.

A new year means that it is finally time to kick off our events program and so we are due to be showing you a curated program of great events which we would like to give you access to. We have then also got a newsletter which you can subscribe to and this will let you know of our upcoming events. Watch this space or alternatively start following us on Instagram so that you can be informed of our day to day mischief!

We hope you will be able to come and visit us and enjoy the Club House on a more regular basis and in order to entice you further we have added a few more spirits to the bar which include a salted caramel vodka called Riverside and a punchy rum called Rumbullion. We look forward to seeing you soon!
