JANUARY 1.0

Welcome to the newly founded Blog for Linden House, the Club House for the London Corinthian Sailing Club and Sons of the Thames Rowing Club.

The idea for the generation of this Blog came from the need to inform and include our Members in the goings on at Linden House. We would love for you to come on this journey in fulfilling the potential of this gorgeous space and making it THE Social Club, THE Sailing Club and THE Rowing Club of West London.

We would like to post regular content and ask for any feedback or input in order to make this a truly valuable blog for our Members.

As you are all aware things at Linden House have been quiet to say the least with us now well into Lockdown 3.0. This has meant that a pause has been put on the majority of the projects that we would have ordinarily undertaken in 2020 however this has by no means meant a lack of enthusiasm or passion on our part. On the contrary it is now more important than ever to inject Linden House with even more energy in order to claw back any potential business we lost in 2020.

Here’s a small insight into what we have been up to over the last few months…

Prior to lockdown 2.0 Head Chef Eddie and myself were working towards establishing the serving of Afternoon Teas at Linden House. We have noticed over the few years that we have been here that there is a lack of sophisticated elegant riverside venues that are able to offer this glorious English Tradition. As such we thought it a great opportunity and duly created a scrumptious Afternoon Tea selection sure to get the taste buds watering. We can now inform you through this Blog that although the launch of this project has been put on pause it by no means has been forgotten. I must also inform you that over lockdown 1.0 and subsequent 2.0 I did have quite a large amount of free time which suddenly became available and as such I took it upon myself to rope Chef Eddie in into refurbishing the chairs that were in the Member’s Bar. You will notice from the photos of the Afternoon Tea setup in the Commodore’s Room that they are no longer a washed-out red to the potential dismay of some but to the wonderful delight to the majority; we hope.

I have also been utilizing my non existential Social Media skills to create a new profile for Linden House on Facebook and Instagram. When embarking on this project it was my goal to ensure that there was and forever will be an underlying current of Sailing and Rowing in the posts. You will therefore see no shortage of cringe worthy nautical but nice and truly oarsome posts whose purpose is to inform non-members about these two great clubs that are located at Linden House.  Its purpose together with this blog is also to inform members of the goings on at Linden House.

It may also be important to note that you may or may have not noticed a change in the branding for Linden House. This change took place a while back however it is a proud and powerful concept that yet again embraces the two clubs and must be highlighted. We chose to customize the L in Linden House with a ‘tail’ that reflects the movement of water. As Linden House is located on this great stretch of the River Thames it was very important to pay a tribute to the Tideway. We have then also created a new logo for Linden House which was inspired by the design of the oars on the rowing blades and the nautical flags alphabet. We have created the logo for Linden House using the ‘L’ and the ‘H’ in the alphabet.

During this rather bumpy almost 12month period the Ballroom was also given a facelift and for those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to pop by the Club it is definitely worth doing so, when government guidelines allow, just to see what a beautiful change the room has undergone. Photos are attached showing the elegance of this beautifully lit space. We hope that you will take the opportunity in the future to host many a soiree in this stunning dining room.

As a first post you will hopefully have received a gentle introduction to the goings on at Linden House; your Club House. We will be sure to continue posting and hope the content makes for pleasant reading.
