JANUARY 2.0
The time has come to let you in on a few of the updates to Linden House that you may or may not have been aware of. We now have this Blog as a means to communicating to the Sailing and Rowing Clubs which we hope will be truly successful as it gives us the opportunity to share some of our excitement about the not so recent and very recent ventures that the team and myself have embarked on at this great venue.
A usual we would like to post regular content and ask for any feedback or input in order to make this a truly valuable blog for our Members. In order for you to get in touch please do email us at manager@lindenhouse.london
Here’s a small insight into what we have been up to over the last few months…
We have been working on supporting local businesses since coming on board at Linden House as it is very important to look after independently run businesses that produce really great high-quality products. This has meant that we have partnered up with Bears Ice Cream located on Goldhawk road. For those avid ice cream lovers, you will have noticed that Phil aka Mr Bear and owner of Bears Ice Cream positioned his ice cream ‘ice-cycle’ at Linden House on a few selected dates over the summer. We are currently seeing how to further this relationship and will hopefully be able to host this great supplier at Linden House. If you ever have a craving for this delicious ice cream you can order online and during non-covid times you can visit Parlour 12 which is their Soft Serve Shop on Goldhawk Road or Pavilion W6 at Brook Green.

We are also continuing our strong relationship with Philippa of Francis Smith Flowers who has such talent in highlighting the elegant features of Linden House with her stunning floral arrangements. During these difficult times Philippa had many a challenge yet she still managed to continue with her home deliveries and opened up her very own Floral Workshop on Goldhawk Road. It is worth noting this local talented florist for small and large floral creations.

On a green note, and more specifically an eco-friendly note Linden House has now been accredited with an Eco Smart certification Bronze Status which is just the beginning of Linden House becoming a sustainable venue. Over the next few months, you will notice small changes that are due to take part in the building and include the replacing of standard PG Tips tea with Clipper Tea. Clipper Tea are natural, fair and delicious and we can’t wait to embark on this new Ac-TEA-vism attitude at Linden House. We are also going to be using Clipper Coffee and Hot Chocolate. Plastic Free, Biodegradable, Fairtrade and Organic are only some of the new words that Linden House is going to become ever more familiar with.
We have also partnered with Cheeky Panda who will provide Linden House with Bamboo Toilet Paper among other items. This cheeky company has three cheeky core values which are to innovate, impact and inspire and we are really looking forward to seeing how we can support each other in this global fight against plastic.
It is also definitely worth highlighting the great efforts of the teams from the Sailing and Rowing Clubs who took on the challenge of wet wipe collection from the banks on the side of Linden House but also on the opposite side. It was noted in the BBC Series ‘War on Plastic’ that there are “11 billion wet wipes sold in the UK every year, 90% of which contain some form of plastic within the wipe.” For those who would like access to this series please visit this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0005xh7 and for those who would like to introduce their children to Colin from the Cheeky Panda (scheduled to visit Linden House post-covid and help with the cleanup) please visit this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGy3USnu-4Y&t=1s
As our efforts to reduce the use of plastic on site continues you will also notice that we will replace the individual bottles of shower gels and will instead be installing bulk dispensers. We also hope to deplete the stock of plastic water bottles and soft drink bottles and subsequently replace them with products that are not made of plastic. We have also placed recycling and general waste bins in the Private Dining Rooms and Members Bar and ask that you please help us in correctly separating your waste. As ever if there are members who would like to actively participate in our efforts to become the most eco-friendly venue in London please do step forward; any advice would be very helpful.
We look forward to our next post when we can let you know of the further progress we have made to go green.
