FEBRUARY 1.0
Now is a great time to be plotting and scheming away and now is the time to be completing projects that have been long overdue in being launched at Linden House.
One such project is the refurbishment of some of our more tired and weather-beaten areas at Linden House. Over the last few years many a discussion has taken place in the Member’s Bar regarding the refurbishment, redecoration, overhaul, beautification of Linden House. Some Member’s voicing their more traditional views, others more contemporary, all focusing on improving their much beloved club for future generations.
The redecoration of Linden House is now underway and is being undertaken in stages due to the financial constraints that will be in place for quite a while, all arising from the global pandemic that has plagued us for almost a year. The first step is the makeover of the restrooms on the Ground Floor. The reason why this has been chosen is very simple; there isn’t anyone in the building. A redecoration of the Ground Floor is due shortly after and therefore arises a need for the completion of another project. Upon coming to Linden House, I saw that there were a lot of very significant items of sentimental value and financial value positioned throughout the building that weren’t being highlighted in the correct fashion and had therefore lost their charm to a certain extent. My goal was to reposition these items, reframe some, polish others and ultimately give them a new lease of life.
It is extremely important not to lose the identity of the Clubs and ensure that they are ever present in every single room. I have therefore taken on the project of looking at any photos, artwork, items of interest and seeing where they could be placed and making sure that their importance is magnified. As such I would like to ask that if any members are in possession of an item which they feel belongs on the walls of Linden House please do get in touch so that we can ultimately collate all these items for display. You may for example have a rather large collection of tankards from rowing competitions or LCSC glasses won from dinghy competitions which you would like to donate.
With regards to our project on all things sustainable and local I would like to announce the launch of an all-British Wine and Sparkling Wine List available in the Member’s Bar upon reopening. It is now more important than ever to support British Wine and we would like to give Member’s the opportunity to purchase these wines by the bottle for consumption on site or perhaps even consumption at home. We have partnered with the likes of Albury Vineyards, Bolney Estate, Squerryes, Sixteen Ridges, Lyme Bay, Denbies Wine Estate and Grey Friars and so on and do hope that you will support these magnificent establishments.
Another project which we would like to embark on is the starting of a Wine Club at Linden House. We have hosted Wine Evenings in the past and would like to do so again in the future. The purpose of these evenings is to be educated in the world of wine and to pair these delicious wines with equally delicious food. Watch this space and should you have any preferences for the subject of these wine evenings please do get in touch at manager@lindenhouse.london
