MARCH: INTIMATE WEDDING CEREMONIES AND RECEPTIONS
Linden House is the perfect space for a micro wedding. You may ask why you would opt for a micro wedding and there are a myriad of reasons which range from affordability to wanting to be surrounded by those most important to you and feeling like you have really shared a very special day with them, to planning a small celebration which will be followed by a larger one with a different feel.
We have various rooms that suit weddings with guest numbers ranging from 15 to 25 and they include the Commodore’s Room and the Captain’s Room. Each of these spaces have their advantages which we would like to let you know about in this article.
The Captain’s Room is located on the Ground Floor which means that there is an opportunity to have a drinks reception in the Entrance Hall or weather permitting, a drinks reception on the Terrace (please let your events coordinator know that this is your intention). Prior to the ceremony we could use the Entrance Hall to serve tea/coffee and juices and then we would also serve bubbles to celebrate after the ceremony. Being on the ground floor means that you can pop in and out of the venue for photo opportunities which would include throwing confetti and family group shots. While you are out on the terrace we then turn the Captain’s Room into a dining room for your wedding breakfast. When you are all done with the dining session of your special day you can then pop out onto the Terrace for a wind down session or to prepare yourselves for something else you may have planned in the Captain’s Room ie a cheese station and casual seating with some jazzy tunes playing in the background, or a cocktail hour accompanied by games. The choices are endless.
The Commodore’s Room is located on the first floor adjacent to the Members Bar which is in use on certain days of the week. If you were able to organise your wedding on a Friday you would have the whole first floor to yourselves which would mean that the following scenario could take place. Your guests will arrive and be served tea/coffee or some juices while waiting to enter the room for the ceremony. You are not obliged to offer this and your guests may simply enter the room from the get go. We then carry the ceremony out in the Commodore’s Room and you are greeted with bubbles in the Members Bar. While you are mingling in the Bar we then turn the room around ready for your wedding breakfast and when you are all done you can either stay in the room or you can pop into the Bar which is a little cosier and a little more relaxing.
We would recommend the Commodore’s Room for a winter wedding although if the weather is wonderful there are only a few stairs in your way which may or may not deter you from popping outside after your ceremony for the family photos and the couple photos. The Captain’s Room is a little closer and so we recommend it more so for summer weddings but only because of its proximity to the Terrace.
If there are a few children present then both of these rooms allow for the opportunity to run around by being close to the Terrace and by being close to the Bar.
Hopefully this article has given you some wonderful ideas on hosting an intimate wedding ceremony and reception at Linden House. We look forward to discussing your vision with you.
