MARCH 2023

Hello to you All!

Spring has officially sprung so there are all kinds of wonderful things that are starting to blossom at Linden House.

Most importantly we would like to announce that we are going ahead with the usual setup for Boat Race Day and looking forward to showing you the different vendors we have coming this year. For those of you who weren’t here last year we strongly recommend you come and spend a day at the Club where the Terrace gets turned into a mini Street Food Market. The women will race at 16.00 and the men at 17.00 which means that there is plenty of time for some delicious food and a few drinks before the race starts. We look forward to seeing you there! Please remember to put the 26th March in your diaries.

We would also like to announce that Timothy Taylor Landlord is going down an absolute treat so huge thanks to all the fans who are truly committed to the cause. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. We felt that it was a really good product for the Club and as always if there is a product which you feel would be really popular please let us know and we will happily stock it in our fridges.

We have noticed that a new breakfast item is truly popular with all the rowers and it comes in the form of an overnight oats pot with berry compote and coconut milk. Head Chef Gary knows a lot about nutrition so if there is something that you athletes would find beneficial to your performance please let him know and he will whip something up for you.

You will all have seen the addition of a new hot water boiler in the bar. This makes a pleasant change from the never ending thermos flasks that were being filled again and again on the weekend. We do put the boiler in eco mode to save on energy so if there is ever a notification on the panel that indicates the eco status please press any button and the machine will start heating up the water. Please be careful as the machine does dispense very hot water.

Some changes regarding staff have also taken place. We have some new team members on board including Nicki who will be the new Club House Manager. Please be sure to give Nicki an extra big welcome as she is very excited about starting at Linden House at the end of the month. Please be patient with us while we introduce your lovely faces to the new team. There may be the odd occasion when we ask for your name and won’t know your ‘the usual’ order. We will do our utmost to remember you as quickly as possible.

Thank you all for jumping onboard with the new door entry system. Please remember to access the portal if you don’t have your fob/card with you on the day. If you haven’t signed up for any of the means to get access to the building please do this as soon as possible as it in the interest of everyone’s security. Please can we also ask you make an extra bit of effort to ensure that you either push or pull the front door closed if you haven’t heard it close properly. We are doing our utmost to ensure that the door does close but because it is a beautiful old wooden door it swells and contracts with the weather. This request is to make sure that we are taking full advantage of the new security measures.

To remind you, we are still doing Yoga Wednesdays and we still have Sofar Sounds coming to us. We recently celebrated World Hearing Day with an Acoustic Evening and have also partnered up with a company called Mumbli who are promoting the hearing wellness movement. We are looking forward to receiving a diagnostic from Mumbli which will show our acoustic strengths and weaknesses as a venue and hopefully we will receive a certificate to prove we are an acoustically aware venue, perfect for all kinds of events that require a little more acoustic sensitivity. Happy Days! Happy Spring!
