Quip Shed Comedy continues to host its comedy gig at Linden House in Hammersmith!
For our December show, we have an incredible line-up, featuring Ben Pope, Aideen McQueen, host Lyle Barke, and new material from headliner Shaparak Khorsandi!
Ben Pope is a stand-up comedian and writer, gigging regularly across the UK. His Edinburgh 2018 debut stand-up hour Baby Sasquatch transferred to the Soho Theatre in June 2019, and he took his sophomore show Dancing Bear to the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe the same year.
He was the Piccadilly Comedy Club New Comedian of the Year Winner 2017 and has placed as a finalist in So You Think You’re Funny and Comedy Cafe New Act of the Year 2015. He started comedy at university where he was the President of the Cambridge Footlights (2013-14) and has previously worked with the award-winning NewsRevue, and appeared on Comedy Central’s Achievement Unlocked and BBC New Comedy Award on Radio 4 Extra.
He is also one third of the cult sketch group Princes of Main who were part of the line-up at London SketchFest in 2016, host the monthly mixed-bill night Crazy Science Stupid Magic and have had sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 and 2017. Their critically acclaimed show New Year’s Eve (‘the future of sketch comedy is in safe hands’ – The Telegraph) transferred to London’s Soho Theatre in early 2018.
Aideen McQueen is one of the brightest sparks in the new generation of Irish comics. She’s sassy, sexy, saucy and side-splittingly funny.
Aideen appears regularly on RTE, TG4, BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Radio 4. She is one of the resident comperes at the world famous International Comedy Club in Dublin and has appeared alongside Sean Hughes, Reginald D Hunter, Ardal O’ Hanon, Dylan Moran, Johnny Vegas, Phil Kay and Frankie Boyle.
She has performed at many festivals including The Vodafone Comedy Festival,The Electric Picnic Festival and Prague Comedy Festival. In 2019 she had two sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Shaparak Khorsandi established herself as one of the country’s finest comedians in 2006 with her sell out Edinburgh show, Asylum Speaker. This show lead to the publication of her childhood memoirs, “A Beginner’s Guide To Acting English“, her best selling literary debut.
In typical Shaparak style, this show told the story of how her family were forced to flee Iran and gain asylum in the UK. Her father’s popularity as a satirist attacking the regime has ensured they cannot return to Iran. As Shaparak says, “obviously there’s free speech in Iran, but little freedom after you’ve spoken.”
Shaparak’s career has taken her to all corners of the globe, she has appeared on countless TV & Radio shows including; Mock The Week, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You, QI, Just a Minute & other flagship radio 4 programmes.
We cannot wait to see you there!
