AUGUST : Should you have an open bar at your wedding?

Planning a wedding includes a handful of decision making, from choosing the perfect venue to selecting the ideal menu catered to all. One significant aspect a lot of couples experience is whether to have an open bar at their wedding reception or not. The question arises: should you provide unlimited liberation to your guests?

An open bar can contribute to a vibrant celebratory ambiance at your wedding reception. Offering a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages it can ease guests into miglesing with others and enjoy the festive celebrations. It allows the opportunity for guests to raise a glass, toast to the newlyweds and enjoy a drink of their choice adds an element of personalisation that many couples desire on their special day.

However, it is common for couples to only provide one glass of fizz for speeches and allow their guests to choose what drinks they would like to have for the rest of the festivities. So if this is something you wish to do then you should feel free to do so.  Guests should never be offended if a couple decided they wish not to provide an open bar as that can be an extra expense to the wedding that might not quite be in budget. The decision to have an open bar might also be judged on who is on your guest list, whether you have a family friend celebration or more friends who like to party.

Deciding  whether to have an open bar at your wedding is subject to choice, it comes down to preferences and budget. Having an open bar adds to the atmosphere of the wedding.  However, it's important to balance these advantages with responsible drinking practices and budget considerations. Remember, there are alternative options that allow you to provide a memorable drink experience while staying within your means. Ultimately, the decision should align with your vision for the celebration and prioritise the comfort and enjoyment of your guests. Cheers to your wedding planning journey!
